ONO, the best of both the matcha and coffee world is located in PJ with a sleek looking space.
Their signature 'When Two Worlds Collide' is a combination of thick creamy matcha plus a tangy fruity carbonated coffee. I'm not a fan of coffee with a lot of acidity but this combination was absolutely delicious! The coffee was almost carbonated-fruit-juice-like but retained some bitterness and the fragrance of coffee. Very enjoyable.
To eat, the Buffalo Chicken sando had a really strong tang and garlicky flavor which kinda overpowered the rest of the flavors. The chicken however was perfectly crisp and moist. The shokupan had the perfect density, bounce and softness. Overall a good sandwich.
The matcha french toast however was a little lost on me as the eggy matcha infused coating doesn't retain much matcha flavor and the bread is too fresh (which is bad for a french toast) and didn't crisp up. But the coffee infused cream it was served with was delicious. The price tag that comes with the dish can be quite a shocker too.
Of course, the coffee and matcha drinks are good here. The colombia filter coffee was sour but had a nice aftertaste. Would be enjoyable for coffee drinkers who like the sour profile.
Matcha lattes here are obviously excellent and a crowd favorite. The matcha intensity and richness of the milk were well balanced.
A lovely space to cater to coffee and non-coffee drinkers with the only downside of closing too early at 5.30pm.
